The Ins and Outs of Houses

Welcome Back!

I hope you have your floor plan ready to go!  Keep in mind that, as you go through the building process, it might change slightly. So be flexible.

Did you notice something that all of the pictures of doll houses yesterday had in common?

They all had doors and windows!

We need to think about placement of these items so that, as we go about our building of the walls, we know where to place these items and do not have to go back and tear it apart.

The good news is that Lego actually creates windows and doors, so you may already have some of these in your stash:

Don't panic if you don't!

The great thing about Legos is that there are many ways to get around this deficit.  All you need is a little creativity.

Now, if you have any castle or Lord of the Rings play sets, you have castle windows that you can use.  They look like this:

Lego also creates doors that you can build yourself.  The look like this:

And, with just two bricks -Presto! You have a door!

You can also go the old fashioned way and make basic openings in the walls like this:

These are just a few of the ideas that I had, if you have any other ideas for doors and windows, please feel free to post so that others may benefit.

Once you decide what you are going to use, then think about where you want these placed.  (For instance, the door should go on the first floor - teehee). I am just sitting them in the general area around my foundation.  That way, when we begin to build, we will have them sitting there as a reminder to add them to our creation!

I hope you have a great time finding your own ins and outs!  Until tomorrow.
